General Manager - People,

Safety & Wellbeing

Pāmu is recruiting a General Manager People, Safety and Wellbeing to lead the Human Resources function and drive ongoing transformation from a People and Culture perspective. As an organisation, we are looking to find more innovative and environmentally sustainable ways to use our land, and to provide a wide range of agricultural products and services to customers / communities across New Zealand. A large component of this change will be around ensuring that the right people and cultural mindsets are in place to achieve our goals.

Our GM People will be a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive and Executive Team, as well as an advocate for people across the organisation, from head office in Wellington to the farms around the country. They will be the leading champion for Health and Safety within Pāmu, tasked with ensuring the physical and mental wellbeing of all staff, but also acting as a thought leader in the wider agricultural industry. There will also be a significant future focus around how the organisation can leverage data and technology in its operations, which will invariably have an impact on how people and teams work.

The GM People will be an enterprise-wide leader, not only focused on matters around People and Culture but also contributing to discussions around commercial issues and decisions. They will be responsible for seamless day-to-day HR operations and will have a clear strategic vision for the future role that the function plays in the organisation.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an experienced HR leader with a proven track record in driving transformation, who is equally as comfortable engaging at the Board and executive level as with people on the farms. You will be well-versed in building robust and mature HR functions, and ensuring that the HR team are equipped to be true business partners, advisors, and problem solvers across Pāmu. Being able to work in a complex stakeholder environment is of vital importance, as this role will be tasked with fostering a network of strong internal and external relationships.
